We are seeking the services of a dynamic Senior Litigation Secretary at our practice in Saxonwold. This is a full-time, office-based position from 8am to 16:30 pm.

Minimum requirements:

  • At least 10 years of experience in a structured legal practice, with exposure to litigation and commercial law.
  • Knowledge of deceased estates and labour law will be an added advantage.
  • The ideal candidate should be confident, well-established in their role, and capable of working independently with minimal supervision.

Job description

1. Work closely and effectively with the Director to keep him well informed of upcoming commitments and responsibilities, following up appropriately.

2. Act as a barometer, having a sense of the issues taking place in the business and keeping the Director updated.

3. Prioritizing conflicting needs, handling matters expeditiously, pro-actively.

4. Proper diary record keeping in relation to matters etc – Diary and Microsoft Outlook.

5. Attend to scheduling of meetings etc – Microsoft Outlook and TEAMS.

6. General day-to-day administration duties as well as office day-to-day administration duties, as and when required.

7. Record keeping of all personal aspects and documents of Director and all tasks from him.

8. Drafting of all documents for Director.

9. Sending out invoices / statements when received by accounts and credit control in respect of unpaid accounts.

10. Handling of all client/staff queries.

11. Labour Court Litigation – drafting of documents and attending to necessary to progress matters (Mr. Maddern is the Labour Specialist).

12. High Court Litigation – drafting of documents and attending to necessary to progress matters, including the CaseLines/Court Online platform.

13. Collating and arranging briefs to counsel, preparing necessary documents for meetings with counsel.

14. CCMA and Bargaining Council referrals and applications.

15. Drafting arbitration related documents for Director as an Arbitrator.

16. Drafting documentation in relation to Estate Late matters with the guidance of the Director.

17. All further instructions as are reasonably requested by the Director.
